Speaking with expert accountant Andrew Jeffers about his profession brought back memories of the reasons that pointed him toward a career in accounting.

“As a young boy, I learnt everything there was to know about clients and being an accountant,” Andrew recalls. “My father really pushed the pencil and that was how he made a living. But he did more than that – he was a trusted advisor and confidant to all his clients. It became something I had been striving for every day.”

A humble beginning
Andrew started to develop his business expertise as a young boy in school – assisting his father with bookkeeping and tax return preparations.

An eager mind and the determination to develop his own practice was fueled by his choice to further his studies of the business landscape. He currently holds the following qualifications:

Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Sydney
Master of Commerce from Macquarie University
Master of Science (e-Business) from Westminster University (London)
An advocate of an ongoing education, Andrew is currently poart way through his Juris Doctral  at the University of Technology Sydney.

His desire to study the impact of technology on the current business environment is determined by the future direction of the organisation word.

“Whenever my clients ask me what the next step is for their business, I always refer to a more integrated technology strategy,” Andrew highlights. “Our role as accountants is to bring profitability and growth to organisations – technology allows us to do so while reducing costs and maximising efficiency.”
